I grew up with this feeling of never being enough: good enough, tall enough, smart enough, talented enough, strong enough…the list goes on… The other day I was feeling down and I found myself wondering when I would feel like I was ENOUGH and this magical voice just popped into my head asking…enough for who? Because when I really look at who I am, what I do, and the family I’m so blessed to have- it is all more than enough for me. Once I stop focusing on what I think other people think - I realize that I am happy with where I am. All of this translates to our bilingual kids and our own bilingual journey. I can’t even tell you how many messages I get from families worrying that their Spanish isn’t good enough to teach their kids, or their kids aren’t speaking enough Spanish, or they don’t know enough, or they aren't bilingual enough, and I want to just ask - enough for WHO?! If it’s not enough for you, that’s one thing - the motivation to grow and change when it comes from a place of genuine desire and not pressure is different than pushing yourself or your kids to be more because you feel like they should be. Remember that you are allowed to have your own goals on this journey. Don't feel pressured by someone else's standards of what your bilingualism or your child's bilingualism needs to look like. ❤️❤️❤️ YOU ARE ENOUGH ❤️❤️❤️
